This summer we have two undergraduate researchers working in the lab, Imran Rashid from MU and Kyle Kirkland from Michigan State University

Imran Rashid

Imran is continuing his honors thesis research in the lab that he began during the 2014-2015 academic year. He is studying the comparative compressive properties of lumbar and caudal vertebrae is mice that have been selected for high levels of voluntary

Left: Isolated lumbar vertebra that has been mounted onto a metal specimen disk. Right: Mounted specimen held in place by a magnet, ready for compression test.

Kyle Kirkland

Kyle comes to the lab as an MU School of Medicine Summer Research Intern from Michigan State University. Kyle is developing an apparatus to test mouse femora in three-point bending and then using it to compare bending mechanics in different strains of mice.
